- "This was the perfect cross curricular activity to bridge money math, language arts, and presidents day!!! LOVE THIS!!!"
I enjoy designing things where I can cover a variety of standards for various subjects at the same time.
With that in mind, I created these 45 coin cards packed with sight words so that you can easily practice math & literacy at the same time.
The cards are a quick, easy and fun way to review all sorts of facts about US coins, which will help students successfully differentiate various money, so that they can remember which coin is which.
At the same time they are practicing end punctuation and capitalization, along with a few math concepts.
There are a variety of sentences that need a period, exclamation point or question mark.
Proper nouns, as well as the first word need to be capitalized as well. Have students use a dry erase marker to make corrections.
I have made "Fix the Sentence" time, part of my daily morning routine, which my students absolutely love.
Grammar can often be tedious & a bit boring for students, but by writing 1-2 sentences on the board each morning, then calling on a student to find & fix one mistake, then explain what they did & why, turns things into a fun, game-like activity that takes just a few minutes. That student, then chooses a classmate to find & fix another mistake.
Because "find & fix the mistakes" is such a hit with my students, I decided to make themed cards for the various things that we study & include information & interesting facts in the sentences. This pack has a money & coin theme.
There are 3 sizes: large and medium to fit nicely in a pocket chart or on your whiteboard, as well as a mini-size with all 45 cards on one page.
After you read and correct the sentences as a whole group, have children choose X number of mini cards to correct independently, by writing the sentences correctly.
These activities fit in well as a little something to do for Presidents' Day too.
I’m Diane from Teach With Me, hoping you enjoy the time-saving advantages of this packet.
