What is The Wonky Playground?

The Wonky Playground is a fun, original suite of seven short movements for Solo Piano. Each piece is graduated, adding new techniques as the work progresses. They are all quite short, most just being one page long.

Why is this piece different ?

The pieces are designed to be different, to sparking the student’s imagination with an expanded musical “toolbox” of unfamiliar techniques, harmonies and rhythms. I.e. thinking outside of the standard diatonic box of chords I, IV & V and 3/4 or 4/4.

Sometimes… sounding “wrong” can be just so… right.

Playing options

Each of the pieces can be used as a stand-alone work or played together as a whole.

Imagination options: Music for your Own Story

The Wonky Playground was written to be played as a whole. There is a loose narrative running though the work that makes it ideal for use as a creative and imagination tool for teacher and students alike. It is very possible to create your own story around this music.

What is in the Kit?

A PDF of the music

MP3 files of each piece which can be a great help while learning the piece.

An MP3 file of the whole work.

We hope you enjoy these pieces. Any feedback is always welcome.
