OVERVIEW:

The math video and worksheet included in this resource were created to help students learn, practice, and apply multiplication comparison concepts for fourth grade. Students will be asked to solve multiplication comparison story problems.


WHAT'S INCLUDED:

Math Video: A teacher-led video that guides students to use a math concept and to apply that concept with real-world story problems. (The link for the video is at the top of the accompanying student worksheet.)

Worksheet: An accompanying worksheet that will enhance student interaction with the video by allowing them to record works and answers. The worksheet comes in black and white and color.

Parent Letter: A guide for parents about what the math videos are, their importance, and different ways to access the video.

Answer Key: A key for correcting the worksheet.


VIDEO & WORKSHEET COMPONENTS:

Video Title & Objective: States the topic and learning objective of the video.

Vocabulary & Concepts: Explains pertinent vocabulary and concepts related to the video’s topic.

Concept Steps: Outlines the steps used to solve each problem.

Let Me Show You: Demonstrates how to apply the steps to a set of problems.

Let's Do It Together: Guides students through applying the steps to a set of problems.

Math in the World: Guides students through applying the steps to a real-world story problem.

Independent Practice: Challenges the students to apply the concepts independently on the worksheet.


HOW THE MATH VIDEOS & WORKSHEETS HELP:

Parents: The most common problem for parents is that they want to help their child with math homework, but they do not understand all of the strategies taught in today’s classrooms. These videos allow parents and students to sit down together and learn different strategies to solve math problems.

Students: Too often students need more time to process math concepts than what can be offered in the classroom. By being able to watch these videos at their own pace and on their own time, students can rewatch problems being solved and pause the videos for the amount of work time that they need.

Teachers: There always seems to be a shortage of time in a classroom. Teachers can use these videos in many ways to help make the most of the time they do have. Some of these ways include as part of a flipped classroom model, for additional practice and review during small groups, centers, or for independent practice time, and for advance the pacing of gifted and talented or high-achieving students.
