Are you familiar with math tasks? At my school, we create our own chapter tasks to asses student growth and understanding. We often allow students to solve them based on any of the strategies they learned from the unit. Although there is always a correct answer, students are given the option to solve the task in any manner they can come up with. Their work and explanation is assessed on a 1-4 rubric. Many teachers in my school use these tasks to put up on a bulletin board when they are due. You can also use these as a quiz, homework, or extra worksheet when students are done with their math work. There are 3 different tasks included in this file. Look out for more to come! Before you know it, you will be set for a whole year of task work for students!
