Description

This WINTER-THEMED bundle will help your students practice 4th grade math skills with a heavy focus on fractions. These activities are perfect for your January lesson plans and small group stations and include Boom Cards, task cards, printable and digital games, and hands-on math centers.

Types of Activities in this Bundle:

❄️5 Digital Boom Card Decks (for independent work or whole group instruction)

❄️4 Printable Sets of Math Centers (task cards, clip cards, sorting activities)

❄️6 Sets of Printable and Digital Games (for math workshop or choice boards)

❄️2 Sets of Digital Pixel Arts (for math workshop or choice board activities)

Skills in this Bundle:

  • Add and Subtract Fractions with Like Denominators
  • ️Compare Fractions
  • ️Decompose Fractions into Sums of Fractions
  • ️Equivalent Fractions
  • ️Simplest Form
  • ️Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers
  • ️Mixed Numbers on the Number Line
  • ️Multiply 2-Digit by 1-Digit Numbers
  • Estimate Quotients using Compatible Numbers
  • ️Multiples
  • Prime and Composite

Boom Cards:

Boom Cards are my favorite resource for independent practice during math centers, test prep, and whole group review. Students love them too. They never complain about having to do Boom Cards!

Since they are self-checking, students receive immediate feedback after each question. That is their WOW factor! If students need extra practice before a test, send them a Boom Card deck. I've had parents thank me for the extra help and tell me how helpful Boom Cards were for them too!

They are also a NO PREP resource. Copy and paste a link to Google Classroom, Schoology, Boom Learning, or whatever online platform you use. That is about as low prep as it gets!

Task cards

Task cards are extremely versatile and can be used for:

✦ Small group instruction

✦ Exit tickets

✦ Whole group review

✦ Game questions

✦ Gallery walks

✦ Quiz-Quiz-Trade

My favorite part about task cards is they can be repurposed in different ways throughout the year. For example, use them once in small group instruction and then again later for a gallery walk or Quiz-Quiz-Trade. The versatility of task cards is a major reason to stock up on this resource!

Games:

Students love playing games to practice what they are learning. Put them on a choice board or early finisher bin, or have students play them during a math center. These games are low prep--just print and play! A few games also come in a DIGITAL format in Google Slides. Dice and game pieces are embedded in the digital games, which means no cleanup is needed!

Why play games in the classroom?

  • Students will have fun while practicing math skills
  • Students will learn to win and lose responsibly
  • Students will build relationships with peers

Hi Cindi!

I'm so glad your students enjoyed the snowflake sorting activities! You might try assigning the Boom Cards and pixel art activities for test prep review between now and April to fit them in since they review previously taught skills. Choice boards are another great way to incorporate review activities. My students loved doing a gallery walk with task cards, so I always put those on choice boards. You can also add the games to an early finisher bin. Hope this gives you some ideas for using these resources now and in the future!
