Fourth Grade Long Division Bundle - This is perfect for distance learning on Zoom or similar formats. On top of that it is powerful when used as direct instruction in the classroom. It is made up of 8 separate lessons entitled the following: 1) Introduction to Division, 2) Dividing 2 Digits by 1 Digit, 3) Dividing 3 Digits by 1 Digit, 4) Dividing 3 Digits by 1 Digit with More Difficult Problems, 5) Dividing 3 Digits by 1 Digit with Zeros, 6) Remainders, 7) Dividing Money, 8) Dividing 1 Digit into 4 Digits. These lessons teach students how to do long division using a one digit divisor and uses mnemonics to help remember the steps. A review of the basics of division precedes each lesson. For further information about the powerpoint lessons, click on each individual lesson. There are 22 effective teaching strategies used in these lessons base on research. For best results, students should have white boards and dry erase markers. Included in each of these powerpoint lessons are the following:

  • title slide
  • focus slide
  • objective
  • essential question
  • vocabulary development
  • concept development
  • step by step demonstrations
  • guided practice
  • problem solving
  • checking for understanding
  • reward slide

Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted.
