About the Math Choice Boards
This resource contains 5 math choice boards (2 on a page) for the Operations and Algebraic Thinking Standards for 4th grade. There is one math choice board for each Operations and Algebraic Thinking Standard for 4th grade.
The tasks on the choice boards are challenging and best for students who have mastered the skills.
- 4.OA.1 Multiplication and Multiplicative Comparison
- 4.OA.2 Multiplication and Division Story Problems
- 4.OA.3 Multistep Word Problems, Interpreting Remainders, and Estimation Strategies
- 4.OA.4 Factors and Multiples, Prime and Composite
- 4.OA.5 Patterns
The printable math choice boards are available in two formats: with and without a colored background.
Each math choice board contains 8 tasks for the students to complete independently. The tasks on the choice boards are challenging and best for students who have mastered the skills.
The choice boards could be used for homework, independent work, or math centers.
The only materials needed are decks of cards with the Ace, Ten, and Face Cards removed. If you do not have decks available, or if you want the kids to have their own set of numbers to use at home, I have provided a template of numbers 1-9 to print.
Due to the nature of the activities, no answer key is included.
Example Tasks:
- Using a deck of cards, create four different multiplication problems. Write story problems or scenarios for each multiplication problem that you created.
- Write a story problem that would require the reader to solve for the missing number. 15 ÷ 3 = ?
- Explain a situation where you would need to ignore the remainder of a division equation.
- Explain the difference between prime numbers and composite numbers. Use examples to support your explanation.
- Create a shape pattern using this this pattern: AABBCC. Use any three shapes that you want.

These digital math choice boards would make excellent distance learning resources. Your students will have some freedom to choose the activities they complete, while still practicing the grade level skills.
