Description
This is an easy 4th grade math center to practice the 4 operations with whole numbers. There are 4 sets of cards separated by skill. The tic-tac-toe board is an easy way to boost engagement without a lot of prep.
All you need to do is choose the skill, print, and place the tic-tac-toe sheet in a page protector. I didn’t even laminate the cards and they have lasted forever! The prep is so easy!
I use this as a partner game to promote accurate calculations and discourse. Partner A chooses a card and solves it. As they are solving, Partner B is checking the work looking for mistakes. When Partner A finishes, Partner B will explain if the answer is right or wrong. Partner B has to be able to prove the mistake if he/she thinks the answer is wrong. If Partner A solved correctly, they place a symbol on the board. If they are incorrect, then Partner B places a symbol. Students will switch roles and keep playing until one player wins.
I love this because my students have wonderful conversations about math! I have also never seen my students check their work so carefully. This is a huge hit for students- I even use it as a reward game some days. I hope your students love it as much as mine have!
