For the interactive notebooks, there is a Multiplication Toolbox foldable that allows students to see all strategies in 1 place. This is a great resource for when students get stuck with a way to check their answer.
There are 2 Kagan-styled Rally Coaches for the Lattice Method and the Traditional Method. With these sheets students work with a partner to solve problems. One explains how to solve the problem while the other watches. If the student gets stuck, the observer gives tips to help solve. Afterwards, they switch roles.
There are 2 sets of 3-method reviews: one is for 2-digit by 2-digit strategies, and the other is for multi-digit by 1-digit strategies. These review worksheets have graphic organizers on them as well as a completed example.
For the distributive property, there is a steps sorting activity. Very little preparation is involved as the strips to cut are on one page.
There is a find my multiplication mistake task card set for 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. The errors are across three different methods: partial products (box method), lattice method, and the traditional method. Error analysis is a great way for deepening students' understanding of the taught skills, and it gets them ready for many assessments.
Finally, there is a fun wrap-up project including - Thanksgiving Dinner Project. In this interactive project, students will plan out a Thanksgiving meal, "purchase the ingredients," make a budget, create an invitation and guest list, and ultimately apply their multiplication and division skills.
