ELA textbooks are boring and way too long! Kids don't like them. So do yourself a favor and purchase my standards-aligned HIGH-INTEREST "Texts and Tasks" and "Texts and Tests" workbooks that are full of interesting reading content that is short and sweet - aligned to EVERY ELA standard. Teaching style

School should be a place where you learn interesting things and practice valuable skills. (It should also be a place of respect and kindness.) Students want to be engaged, active, and they want interesting, creative curriculum -- not those boring textbooks! That's why I'm here - an ALTERNATIVE TO LONG BORING TEXTBOOKS KIDS COMPLAIN TO YOU ABOUT. Make your life easier by giving them resources they like, you like, everyone likes! Then, you will see something magical happen as they do their work - they actually behave better! That's because when kids are engaged, not bored or overwhelmed by the content, they don't have the time or desire to act up. It is a beautiful thing!

My own education history

B.A., English, 1995, University of California, Irvine Masters courses in Curriculum and Instruction, 1996-1998, Chapman University Full year of pre-med Anatomy and Physiology and Nutrition science courses. I love science and enjoy using it in the language arts setting. I also enjoy math (weird...I know).

Additional biographical information

I also have experience as an independent contractor for various ELA content/curriculum companies doing various curriculum projects. I used to create standardized test questions that align with the Common Core ELA state standards (a.k.a. "Career and College Ready" standards) and more standards depending on the state. Therefore, I gained a GREAT amount of knowledge about aligning content to standards and assessing it. It was all harder than I thought it would be (more complicated), but it was worth it to learn so much about making quality, targeted curriculum that is actually useful. I apply lessons I learned during those years to how I make products today.
