Checkable Checklist Google Sheet Template for Distance Learning Lessons

This fully editable Checkable Checklist Google Sheet Template is ideal for providing clear expectations and step-by-step instructions to students who are distance learning or using Google Classroom for hybrid/in-person learning. Simply make a copy of the blank template (example template with instructions included!), name it for your class and week (for example, “English 9 Learning Activities Checklist - Week of 3/30”), and add your directions and links.

This checkable checklist allows students to:

  • Have a consistent routine for viewing, understanding, and working through their learning activities independently.
  • View their learning activities for the week in one place (much easier than having to visit multiple locations to find information).
  • See complex assignments broken down into smaller, more manageable steps.
  • Use the color-changing checkboxes to check off the steps as they complete them.
  • Feel a sense of accomplishment with each checkbox checked!

It also allows teachers and liaisons to provide necessary special education accommodations such as:

  • Large print
  • Reduced number of items per line
  • Alternating colors per line
  • Small, clear steps
  • Checklist, planner, or graphic organizer
  • Visual schedule or timeline

As we all know, these accommodations are great supports for all students!

INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS:

  1. Type up all of your instructions and links for the week in the checkable checklist.
  2. Assign your checkable checklist to students in Google Classroom as "Make a copy for each student." This allows students to actually use the checkable checkboxes (which is not possible when work is assigned as "View only").

TIP: Add your Bitmojis to your checklist to give it some personality!

If you're looking for a simple solution to posting your weekly distance learning lesson plans, this easy, colorful Google Slides lesson plan template is for you! Here's how it works:

  1. Make a copy of the template and name if for your class and week (i.e. “English 9 Lessons - Week of 9/21”).
  2. Customize the slides with directions, activities, links, images, and videos. If you're like me, you'll also throw in a bunch of Bitmojis to lighten the mood!
  3. Post the slides to your Google Classroom classes as "View only."

Then, students can see their daily distance learning activities in a large, attractive, well-formatted, easy-to-navigate presentation!

Fully customizable (edit, add, or remove anything!), these slides already include:

  • Functional table of contents that links to the different days of the week
  • Color-coded sections (Monday in orange, Tuesday in yellow, etc.)
  • Linked "back" buttons on each slide for easy return to the table of contents
  • Designated spaces for inserting images and videos (“Insert” → image or video)
  • Cheerful, bright colors
  • Fun, easy-to-read font

Don't worry if you're new to Google Classroom or Google Slides--this template makes e-learning a breeze! You can do it!

-----------------------------------------------

Electronic Book Sign-Out Sheet for Distance Learning (Google Sheets)

Go paperless and contactless with your book sign-out process with this easy-to-use, editable Google Sheet! This electronic book sign out sheet allows you to:

  • Create a sign-out sheet for each class. (Just duplicate the template and rename it for each section you have!)
  • Sign out 10+ books per class. (Add columns and copy and paste if you need more!)
  • Type, paste, or import your class roster once for each class. (TIP FOR TYPERS: Type student names as "Last, First" and then sort the column A-Z.)

There are also columns for you (or your students) to record:

  • Date of book distribution (Double-click for a pop-up calendar.)
  • Book number
  • Condition (Select "New," "Good," "Fair," or "Poor" from a drop-down menu.)

Furthermore, you can:

  • Select the return status from a drop-down menu, which is then automatically color-coded in green (returned) or red (not returned).
  • Make any necessary notes in the teacher notes column.

Accommodations Log Google Sheet (Great for Distance Learning!)

This Google Sheets accommodations log is an easy, fast, and effective way to electronically track the classroom accommodations you make for students on a daily basis. Whether you’re teaching in a remote, hybrid, or in-person model, this colorful electronic accommodations log is the way to go because of its many helpful features:

  • Designated spaces for recording school year, student initials, teacher(s), accommodations, and teacher comments
  • Pop-up calendars
  • Checkable checkboxes
  • Color-coded sections
  • Example log, instructions, and tips

And, if you're new to Google Sheets, don't worry! This accommodations log spreadsheet is user-friendly and, as mentioned, includes not only the log template but also instructions, tips, and an example log. Click the preview to see how simple it really is to keep an electronic record of your accommodations for not only students with special needs (IEPs, 504s) but also ELLs (English Language Learners)! Because this is a Google Sheet, you can also instantly share (or collaborate on) this log with co-teachers, special education liaisons, ISP teachers, administrators, evaluators, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS:

  1. Click the arrow on the tab called "Template."
  2. Select "Duplicate" (makes a duplicate tab inside this Google Sheet) or "Copy to" (copies the tab to a new or existing Google Sheet).
  3. Name this new tab for your student; use initials to save space. Each student will get their own tab, so repeat steps 1-3 for each student.
  4. In your student's spreadsheet tab, fill out the information for that student--school year, student initials, teacher(s), and accommodations. See the "Example" tab.

TIP: Alphabetize your accommodations for ease of use.

  1. You are now ready to begin logging your accommodations! In the row called "Day/Date," double-click on the first light purple cell to select from the pop-up calendar.
  2. In the row called "Teacher Notes," make any relevant notes. See the "Example" tab.
  3. In the column of checkboxes, select which accommodations you used on that date, and you're done!

TIP: Declutter your log by hiding previously completed columns. To do this, select the first column you would like to hide by clicking once on the very top of the column. Then, while holding the "Shift" key, click once on the very top of the last column you would like to hide. This will select all cells between and including the first and last columns. Right-click on this selection and select "Hide Columns." Done! To unhide columns, just click the little arrows at the top of the spreadsheet.

-----------------------------------------------

Face-to-Face Time Tracker for Distance Learning Video Conferencing

If you’re teaching remotely or in a hybrid model and are hosting video conferencing meetings (Zoom, Google Hangouts, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.), this customizable Google Sheet template will help you document your face-to-face time with students (and/or parents) easily and efficiently!

Included in this sheet are 3 tabs (see preview and thumbnails):

  1. Example log/timesheet to show how inputted information might look
  2. Template for any school year with double-click pop-up calendars and drop-down menus for time selection
  3. Template for any school year with double-click pop-up calendars and blank spaces for you to record times and other notes/comments about each student (as opposed to drop-down menus for time selection)

Let this spreadsheet do the work of data collection and documentation so that you can focus on helping your students with their distance learning!

Online Sign-Out Sheet | Google Form, Distance Learning, Synchronous Learning

This editable Google Forms sign-out sheet for distance learning is an easy tool to keep track of students’ breaks during synchronous learning sessions (i.e. during video-conferencing on Zoom, Google Hangouts, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.). Or, if you’re teaching a hybrid or in-person model, this sign-out sheet is a must-have for classroom social distancing because it is paperless and accessible to students through their individual electronic devices, be they phones, tablets, or computers.

Simply post the digital sign-out sheet once to your Google Classroom or other online learning platform, and then let the form and your students take it from there! Because the Google Form will create the timestamps and collect students’ emails, all students need to do is:

  • Type in their names.
  • Select their class period and whether they are going out/in.
  • Click submit.

Not only is this electronic sign-out sheet easy and efficient for everyone--faster, even, than a traditional paper sign-out sheet--but it also helps make sure that your students’ identities and timestamps are accurate!

INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS:

  1. Post the Google Form to your Google Classroom or other online learning space.
  2. Explain to students how the form works, as well as your expectation that they will sign out before taking a break (for example, to use the bathroom) and sign in when returning from a break.
  3. View the form responses in a Google Sheet (see the product preview for an image of how this works), and monitor the timestamps of students signing out and signing in. Optionally, you may turn on email notifications. Again, see the product preview.

TIP: Make this form yours! Customize the fonts, colors, and wording, and add your own Bitmojis as I did! See the product thumbnails for more ideas on personalizing this distance learning classroom sign-out sheet!
