Description

This is lesson 6 from chapter 1 of Go Math, 5th grade. This is the lesson you can use with your document camera and connection to your smart board! All you need is this fantastic projectable document, your favorite sharpies or paper mate flair pens and you are good to go!

Steps:

1. Print this document on one side only, no double sides.

2. Make as many copies of We Do - Active Engagement as you need, 1 per student. Print Quick Checks on the other side of this document.

3. At the beginning of the lesson, pass the We Do/Quick Check page to each student and have students to either come to the meeting area or remain at their seats - whatever routine you established in your classroom!

4. Review the TP - unpack the skill and the strategy. Have students repeat what the TP is and what they are expected to learn during the lesson.

5. Model the skill and the strategy. Use whatever color pen you prefer to model directly onto the document in the space provided. Use the steps to model the skill and the strategy in the box (on the left side). Check off the steps as you complete them. This helps students visualize the process and use steps as a checklist! Very helpful for struggling students!
6. Have students use We Do/Quick Check document once you are ready for students to practice the TP. Conduct this portion of the lesson as a workshop or whatever way you established in your classroom.

7. Have students turn to the other side of We Do/Quick Check page and have them complete quick checks independently.

8. If time allows, go over the problems quickly and have students mark their answers as correct or incorrect. Based on the assessment, group students into squares (high), triangles (mid) and circles (low).

9. Send squares and triangles to their seats while you work with the circles in the meeting area or small group area.

10. It is up to you to complete all of the suggested activities including the challenge break.

11. If you wish, you can also do the exit ticket (not included).

Try this document out and if you think you enjoyed it and would like more lessons, you can certainly purchase more in my TpT store! Enjoy!

Best,
