I have a series of skill worksheets and matching assessments that I have created for my reading instruction. In general, I focus on one reading skill each week (this particular skill is on Visualizing) - after three days of mini-lessons, I give the kids this Practice Worksheet on Day 4. They will be taking a graded Skill Assessment on Day 5 of each week (see my store to purchase matching Skill Assessments); the Practice Worksheet is written in the same format as the Skill Assessment and our state exams. This particular worksheet focuses on using clues and description in the passage to visualize the setting. You can use the worksheet as a graded assignment; however, I like to use it as a practice for what they will see the next day on a graded test. These are great for homework or independent assignments during reader's workshop. Look for my other skill Practice Worksheets and matching Skill Assessments. It makes assessing reading so much easier and as close to the state tests as I've personally seen.
