Description

Did you know that there are only SIX types of syllables in the English language? Once your students know how to identify them, they will be able to decode multisyllabic words with ease!

C: closed syllable

L: consonant-L-e syllable

O: open syllable

V: vowel team/diphthong syllable

E: Magic E/Silent E/VCE syllable

R: Bossy R/R-contolled syllable

Included in this product are two simple visuals you can use as a display in the front of the room, or in students' notebooks/desks. Both posters feature a clover - one simply has the letters CLOVER to remind students of the 6 syllable types. For extra scaffolding, I also included a poster with the names of the syllable types.

There is a black and white version included as well so students can color the letter for each syllable type they have learned/mastered! An easy way for students to track their own learning.

Also included is a "cheat sheet" reference page that you can give to students which gives a definition and example words for each of the six types of syllables.
