Description
This is an original suite of four songs for young children to celebrate aspects of the Chinese New Year. The pentatonic scale is used to give the songs an oriental feel. However, the songs are not slaves to that scale.
YouTube: More Songs for a Chinese New Year
Each song can be used as a stand-alone piece or performed together as a cohesive unit.
It is very possible to create your own actions around this music.
The Four Songs are:
- Praying for the Harvest
- Relatives
- Dumplings (For international appeal, Dumplings and Spring Rolls can be replaced with Mince Tarts, Turkey etc. :-) )
- New Year
What's in the pack?
- MP3 files for each instrument with a flute and piano playing the melody, which is a great help while learning the songs,
- MP3 files (with no flute) to act as backing or performance tracks.
- Full Score and Parts
- A Melody line part
- Lyric sheets in full color (or colour)
The Piano Part
The piano part is not difficult to play, but it will require someone who can play more than “just a bit”.
