Description

  • Year Long 6th Grade Math Exit Tickets aligned with the Envision Mathematics curriculum, but can serve as a great review and practice for any 6th grader, regardless of curriculum.
  • 122 Daily 5-question Reviews (2 for each lesson)
  • Paper and Digital Versions included
  • Easy to implement
  • Complete Answer Key Included

This exit ticket set aligns with the 2021 edition of Envision Mathematics, and is compatible with the 2024 edition. (Does not include resources for any of the "Let's Investigate" lessons found in the 2024 edition). Since the curriculum for this grade has fewer but denser individual lessons, this review includes two 5 question exit ticket reviews for every lesson (labeled "A" and "B"). Each review comes in two versions: a printable paper version and a Google form. Complete answer keys are included. The digital versions are completely editable.

My school recently started using Envision Mathematics, and I quickly realized that while a digital "exit ticket" was included in the materials, it often contained only high level word problems that were overly challenging for most of the kids in my classes. This often led to my students only feeling more confused and frustrated, and it didn't allow me to determine if they understood the key content of the lesson. An alternative was given to have students check five specific problems on their homework page once it was turned in, but this did not allow me to quickly assess if students understood the material so I could adjust my instructional plans for the next day. (Especially when taking into account how many students would be a day or two late turning in that homework page.)

To solve these problems I created this set of exit tickets for the year. It allows you to quickly assess which students need extra support or are ready for more challenging work, and makes it easy to adjust instructional plans for the next day based on the trends you see. I've found the digital version is especially helpful because after students take it in class I can quickly pull individuals or small groups of students aside for reteaching and support before they get too far on their independent practice.

Each review focus on the key mathematical concepts (graphing points, finding surface area, multiplying and dividing with fractions, absolute value, ordering rational numbers, basic algebraic equations, etc.) that were at the core of each lesson.

Thank you for considering my resource! My email is included within the product if you have any questions or issues while trying to use it.

Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism. Apply the formulas 𝘝 = 𝘭 𝘸 𝘩 and 𝘝 = 𝘣 𝘩 to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Recognize a statistical question as one that anticipates variability in the data related to the question and accounts for it in the answers. For example, “How old am I?” is not a statistical question, but “How old are the students in my school?” is a statistical question because one anticipates variability in students’ ages.
