Description

If you are looking for a quick formative assessment or a review of standards, this is a wonderful resource for just that. There are 10 slides that cover all areas of the standard.

  • NS 2 Locate rational approximations of irrational numbers on a number line, compare their sizes, and estimate the values of the irrational numbers.
  • Each slide varies in difficulty level 1 - level 3. These are the different levels of DOK questioning.
  • Each slide has a learning target, as well as, two questions.
  • Each student will self assess

This is a great way to review before state testing, a unit test, or following the completion of the number systems unit.

It is versatile. It can be used as you teach the unit.

Use rational approximations of irrational numbers to compare the size of irrational numbers, locate them approximately on a number line diagram, and estimate the value of expressions (e.g., π²). For example, by truncating the decimal expansion of √2, show that √2 is between 1 and 2, then between 1.4 and 1.5, and explain how to continue on to get better approximations.
