Description

Students research ANY person with this Biography Project Research Report and Presentation. From writing graphic organizers and templates to a Biography poster board living wax museum, they will enjoy learning more about the lives and accomplishments of historical individuals.

This is a living biography project in the format of a wax museum. It's a great project to complement a genre study of biographies, an author study, social studies concepts, and more.

You have the option to do a living biography museum where families come in to school and the students "perform" in character or can instead be used simply as an independent research project in class or as a homework assignment. If you opt not to have students dress in costume (which can be a hassle for the parents since most kids can't put their own costume together), they can make a poster board costume with a space for their head to pop through. A-DOR-ABLE!!!

In the past, I've done the living museum and had students prepare a brief speech to recite in character. It was awesome seeing all of the presentations! This year I opted to send it home as a homework project and will instead take their photos with their poster board and display them with the written report.

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

project directions and expectations to send home with students that walk them through how to complete the project, display a visual model of what the poster should look like, and outline the expectations in the format of a criteria checklist

graphic organizers to help students guide their research, document their findings, and record their sources

student report cover with space for a picture of the student in their costume or space to draw a picture

student writing pages that students can use for their formal report

5 REASONS TEACHERS LOVE THIS BIOGRAPHY RESOURCE:

► This comprehensive packet contains everything you need to have your students complete a project of their very own to present in class or at a Living Biography Museum.

► It's a unique way for students to show their learning.

► This resource is ideal for students in grades 2-5, so you can continue to use the project even if you change grade levels.

► This project can serve as a great enrichment opportunity for high achieving students seeking to complete an independent ongoing project.

► It includes a set of project directions and expectations, which makes it quick and easy for you to assign it to your students.

As a 5th grade teacher in an ICT classroom setting, I found this resource to be fun, engaging, and very easy to use. My students stayed interested throughout the activity, and the directions were clear and simple to follow. It worked well for learners with a variety of needs and required very little prep on my end. I would definitely recommend this resource to other upper elementary teachers!

I used this for my students wax museum project and it worked great! I liked using the research notes after they finished reading their books because it showed what gaps they had about their person.
