Description
This project was originally designed for grade 8, but could easily be adapted to grade 6 or 7 if you changed the trip criteria to suit the curriculum expectations of those grades. My students LOVED it... It required them to plan out a trip around the world, based on a maximum budget of $20,000. It took them about a month, doing bits and pieces with the use of tech. They used the Internet to find flights, hotels, excursions. They were required to visit places that met certain criteria, but within that had a lot of freedom. It really taught them a lot about planning, researching, and organizing info. I had my students fill in calendars and use Excel to keep track of their expenses. They also had to complete a map (not included) of their journey. Doing this solely in class will require access to netbooks or computers, etc. An awesome lesson in budgeting, too!
