This aligns with the AP Environmental Science Course and Exam Description (CED) and includes the following topics:
- 7.1 Introduction to Atmospheric Pollution- Identify the sources and effects of air pollutants.
- 7.2 Photochemical Smog - Explain the causes and effects of photochemical smog and methods to reduce it.
- 7.3 Thermal Inversion - Describe thermal inversion and its relationship with pollution.
- 7.4 Atmospheric CO2 and Particulates - Describe natural sources of CO2 and particulates.
- 7.5 Indoor Air Pollutants - Identify indoor air pollutants; Describe the effects of indoor air pollutants.
- 7.6 Reduction of Air Pollutants - Explain how air pollutants can be reduced at the source.
- 7.7 Acid Rain -Describe acid deposition; Describe the effects of acid deposition on the environment.
- 7.8 Noise Pollution - Describe human activities that result in noise pollution and its effects.
This Teacher Version Includes:
- 16 Pages, fully editable Google Doc
- Full Student Version with a list of 42 essential vocabulary terms, list of Unit 7 topics and learning objectives aligned with the AP Environmental Science Course and Exam Description (CED), and 31 open-ended review questions that require the application of essential knowledge from Unit 2.
- Space for you to record textbook reading assignments (currently it is aligned to Friedland/Relyea 4e)
- Teacher Answer Key with suggested answers to each of the 31 review questions as well as definitions to all essential vocabulary terms
Recommended Use:
- Distribute this packet at the beginning of Unit 7. Set the due date for the review questions on or before the unit test. This review pairs well with other prep tools such as AP Classroom Progress Checks, textbook practice questions, flashcards, or review games like Kahoot!
- In my classroom, I assign AP Classroom question sets and textbook-based tasks (Friedland & Relyea). The Unit Review packet is not technically graded, but students are strongly encouraged to complete it. During binder checks on test day, I note who completed it. Students who struggle on assessments often find it especially helpful for reviewing and reinforcing the concepts assessed on the unit test.
