Engage your AP Language and Composition students with two days of detailed and engaging lessons on analyzing visual sources for the Synthesis FRQ.


This resource includes two days of materials, detailed lesson plans, two days of slides (PDF and editable), a reference handout, guided practice worksheet, and an interactive gallery walk activity with real AP-style visuals (cartoons, charts, tables, and infographics) focused on the debate of STEM vs. the Arts in education. Students will learn how to analyze visual sources using the OPTIC strategy, a simpler strategy, evaluate stance and argument, and practice integrating analysis of visual sources into synthesis-style writing.
