Description
This is a pair or small group activity for a statistics class in which students will discuss and determine whether 12 cards give true or false statements about probability.
The false cards highlight some common misconceptions about probability, such as the idea that outcomes must always be equally likely.
I like to have students work in pairs sorting the cards into true and false, then letting them know that there should be six of each. We follow this up with a discussion of each card where students justify to the class why they have chosen true or false.
