Description
The midterm point is a good time to have AP or college students evaluate their course expectations. There's enough semester "history" to provide an accurate assessment, and enough time ahead in the course for the student to create a strategy to correct deficiencies and earn a satisfactory final grade. This midterm assessment has been used successfully with AP English and college freshman composition courses, as well as with advanced college writing courses, such as Writing about Science and Writing about Business. Using this midterm assessment allows the instructor to truly collaborate with the student in earning the desired final grade. It can be completed in-class or as an out-of-class activity.
Please check out my other Academic Writing and Reading resources. They address critical reading, chapter-by-chapter questions for common class novels, close reading graphic organizers, and "how-to" handouts for various writing assignments (analysis, summary). I also offer a number of quizzes addressing historical events. The author of these resources has experience tutoring and teaching students K-college.
