Description
RATIONAL GRAPHS -CARD SORT ACTIVITY
ASYMPTOTES, HOLES
X-INTERCEPT ,Y-INTERCEPT
DOMAIN & RANGE
OBJECTIVES
- Graph rational functions, identifying zeros and asymptotes when suitable factorizations are available, and showing end behavior.
INCLUDED
- 8 Rational Functions Cards
- 8 Asymptotes/Holes Cards
- 8 Intercepts Cards
- 8 Domain/Range Cards
- 8 Rational Graphs
DIRECTIONS
- Have students work in pairs or groups of 3 to elicit discourse and make it fun.
- Print a set of all the cards (pages 3-10) for each small group and have the students cut them out.
OR
You can print them out on different colored card stock paper, laminate them, then cut them so you can use them for a long time.
- Distribute the recording worksheet to each student, then organize students in pairs or have them work individually. Print page 12 on the back of page 11 to save the paper.
- Have the students sort the cards and record the sorted cards on page 11.
- On page 12, have students show their work, especially factoring, finding intercepts, and asymptotes.
- Distribute the recording worksheet to each student, then organize students in pairs or have them work individually
