These 24 Abbreviation BOOM CARDS™ are digital task cards on the BOOM Learning website. They’re a perfect abbreviations activity for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms! The questions included gradually increase in difficulty. Immediate feedback is provided. This helps students practice independent learning while strengthening their understanding of the skill.
The skills covered include correctly converting words into abbreviations.

Abbreviation Categories Covered:
- Titles of Names
- Days of the Week

These task cards feature 4 different types of questions:
Cards 1-5: Students select the correct form of the abbreviation for the word shown.
Cards 6-9: Students correctly fill in the table with the missing abbreviations for the days of the week and the months of the year.
Cards 10-13: Students type in the correct form of the abbreviation for the underlined word in the sentence.
Cards 14-24: Students select the words in the sentence that can be abbreviated and type the correct abbreviation for the word in the box provided.
