Description
These fun math mazes are a great way to keep students engaged as they solve absolute value equations. As they move through each maze, they solve various absolute value problems and follow the arrows with the correct values for x.
I like to have my students use markers or colored pencils to color in the arrows as they go so I can see which path they took. These activities can also be a fun competition to see who can reach the end of the maze first.
Included in this download:
1) A maze with simple absolute value equations, such as |x-2|=7, whose correct path leads students to complete 12 problems.
2) Two answer keys for the simple maze (one with the algebraic method and one with the number line method of solving).
3) A second maze with slightly more difficult problems, such as |3x-6|=9 and |x-3|-5=-4, whose correct path leads students to complete 11 problems.
4) Two answer keys for the more difficult maze (one with the algebraic method and one with the number line method of solving).
