Task Cards are a great way to add movement to your classroom and/or individualize learning. Make your students experts at graphing absolute value functions. These task cards can be printed, laminated, and cut to use over and over again. Pair the students or use them in centers where you split the cards and have the students move from station to station to fill out their recording sheets. It’s a great review for the end of course exam or Algebra final exam.
Two sets of task cards are included: black and white or color option. 12 task cards in total with 4 recording sheets that can be printed front and back on two pages. This is a PDF file.
Common Core Standards:
High School: Functions » Interpreting Functions » Analyze functions using different representations. » 7 » b
Graph square root, cube root, and piecewise-defined functions, including step functions and absolute value functions.
Suggested use of task cards: Print one set of task cards. Laminate if desired. Pair students together and set up a rotation so that each pair knows who they will hand off their task card to. Give each pair a task card and each student should have their own recording sheets to show work and record their answers. Time the students (approx. 5 minutes) and then have them switch the card by passing it to another pair of students in the rotation.
You can also print a set per small group (of 3 or 4 students) and have them go through the task cards together. It’s completely up to you.
