✔Word problems
✔Problems involving the number line
✔Adding and subtracting integers to match the absolute value
✔The opposite of the absolute value
✔Comparing and ordering numbers written in absolute value
✔The definition of absolute value
There is so much you can do with task cards!
Here are six ideas:
1. Stations - 3 - 4 task cards per station
2. Gallery walk - tape the task cards to the wall and have students walk around
the room to answer the questions
3. Scoot - Place a card on each desk and have students either switch desks
each minute to answer another question or switch cards.
4. Football Relay - Pair students, one being the "Quarterback." The quarterback
gets a card from the pile of cards at a centrally located
point. The students work out the problem together and raise
their hands. When they answer the question correctly, they
get another card. At the conclusion, you got your exercise
and the assignment is graded.
5. Speed dating - Students complete the cards on the computer, using scratch
paper to answer the questions. The inside partner from each
partnership moves to the next person. So, only half of the
students rotate after your designated amount of time or
questions.
6. Students complete the cards independently or in pairs at their desks, using a
computer and scratch paper.
