Absolute Value: Understanding Comparisons
Share

Description

This 18-slide PowerPoint presentation goes deeper into understanding absolute value. It demonstrates the difference between comparing two numbers and comparing the absolute value of two numbers. Real-world examples are given to help students better understand the material. Completely review the presentation so you can decide how best to use it in your curriculum. The content is based on Common Core standard CCSS.Math.Content.6.NS.C.7.D. The instruction assumes that the student has already experienced the definition of and computed absolute values. My PowerPoint presentation "Absolute Value: Distance & Magnitude" is recommended as a precursor. This presentation is great for whole class or individual use. It would be a great item to place on your teacher website for student's who may have missed a lesson or need additional help. The time length spent on the presentation is estimated from 20-30 minutes dependent upon teacher stopping points and students interaction.
