Description
This is the eleventh lesson in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Course.
The class will begin with a group discussion on the benefits of exercise. Students will have to persuade the teacher to take up an exercise program. The lesson will then introduce students to the rhetorical structure of a persuasive essay. This will include direct instruction in language skills for presenting evidence. Students will review counterarguments and refutations, and be introduced to statements of concession.
The latter part of the lesson will ask students to brainstorm, draft, and peer review a persuasive essay.
All slides are editable. This resource also includes the following worksheets for students to practice material presented in the PPT.
