This is a several-day lab designed for an elementary chemistry unit. Kids collect data by testing a variety of solutions with pH papers to determine if they are weak or strong acids or bases. Kids then take an acid solution and attempt to change it into a basic solution using titration. This lab uses pH papers, test tubes, test tube holders and pipettes. The solutions that are tested are every-day products that can be purchased in grocery and drug stores. This is a great lab that introduces kids to some basic elementary chemistry concepts. I've used this lab as part of my elementary chemistry unit for many years with great success.
