This math powerpoint lesson teaches students to predict and determine the probability of an event. This lesson is aligned with the skills covered in 9.5 Houghton Mifflin Math - 1st grade. The lesson opens with the "Problem of the Day" reviewing fractions. Next, the objectives are listed, along with vocabulary terms: certain, impossible, probable, more likely, less likely, and equally likely. Then the lesson moves to an opener of probability giving students some events to discuss and the likelihood of those things occurring. The next few pages are scenarios with pictures in which students must determine the probability. Last, the students are given textbook directive on what pages to complete, along with a math journal prompt, incorporating drawing.
