WHAT'S INCLUDED? (PRINT AND DIGITAL)
- Activity: 1: Fill in the Blank
Students will see two fractions that are equal to each other. They have to figure out what the blank number that is missing is. Great practice with tenths and hundredths. (example: 10/100=1/?)
- Activity 2: Find the Mistake
There are 3 fractions on the line (ex 1/10, 10/100, 1/100). Two of them are equal. One is trying to trick you. Figure out which one does not belong.
- Activity 3: Let's Add
Students are given two fraction denominators that are different (10 and 100). They have to make them equal to add them together.
- Activity 4: Look at the Data
Students look at the data in the chart and add the fractions together based on the question asked. The denominators may be the same (10) or different (10 and 100).
HOW TO IMPLEMENT:
There are 11 problems included in each of the 4 games (total of 44 questions).
- Digitally: The first problem is always an example for students so they know what to do. I would recommend completing 5 questions during your lesson together and assigning the other 5 for students to complete independently. Or, assign all 10 after going over the first example slide together. They are provided in Google Slides so you can assign them in Google Classroom.
- Print: Print the task cards out and put them in a math center. Have students record answers on the recording sheet provided. Students can use the self-checking answer key to check their work. You can choose between the color and black and white option.
There are 4 adding fraction denominator games to help students practice their math skills - in a fun way! They align with 4.NF.5. These 4th grade spiral review math activities are great for additional practice or could even serve as quick 4th grade math assessments during a fraction unit. They're made to be flexible so you can use them how YOU want to!
