Description
Using the fraction bars, students will show how to add or subtract fractions with like denominators. For each example, students need to show how to add the fraction bars with the manipulatives as well as on your paper. Then, decide whether they can simplify them or not based on the other fraction bars provided. Be sure that all fractions are in simplest form.
Students will work 2 examples out all together as a big group with the teacher, and then will complete 2 examples on their own. Make sure that they show work with the manipulatives and drawing them out on paper.
