Description

In this self-checking activity, students will add or subtract 8 rational expressions that increase in difficulty.

First, students will add/subtract two rational expressions with like denominators. For the next six problems, add/subtract rational expressions with unlike denominators. Students will need to be comfortable with factoring in order to determine the LCD. The same factors repeat within the denominators, making it harder for students to "guess" their way through!

By using this scaffolded activity, students will slowly build confidence as they move through the activity!

What's Included:

  • 2 separate versions - dependent on how you prefer your students to write their answers. The first version requires students to factor the negative out of the numerator.
  • Customizable options - a version has been included for each where students can choose their own colors to create a personalized design.

Perfect for individual or group work, this activity encourages both critical thinking and creativity.
