Description
This activity requires the following skills:
Decimal addition and subtraction
In the editable file, you will find a worksheet with problems and riddle at the bottom. You will also find the QR codes at the end of the file. Print copies of the worksheet for each student. Print one set of the QR codes. Cut them apart and hang them in various places around the room. There are correct answers and common incorrect answers listed by each QR code. The student will solve a problem and get an answer. They are then to look around the classroom for the QR code with that answer on it. Once they find it, they will use their device to scan the QR code. It will tell them the secret letter. Then, they write that letter in the riddle on the bottom.
For instance, if they got 3.42 for number 2, they would scan the QR code that has 3.42 next to it. The message received when the QR code is scanned may be "Awesome! The secret letter for #2 is A". They would then write an A in the blank with a 2 underneath it at the bottom in the riddle.
Students loved this activity and asked for one every unit! Admin was also very impressed. Keeps them engaged and it is self checking. If their answer isn't around the room, they have to try again!
