Description
This is a great activity for students to practice finding the missing addend in a simple addition equation. Each card has pictures that students can use to count if needed or students can simply use another strategy to solve the problem. With this activity students can match the equation to the correct number card or they can use an expo marker to write the correct answer on the equation card. Make this activity self check by writing the correct answer on the back of each card. Print on card stock, laminate for durability and use at a math center or small group teacher led instruction. Great for higher Kindergarten students or first graders! This activity also comes with a worksheet very similar to the activity which can be used for additional practice or assessment.

This resource really helped my students grasp the concept of missing addend. I like to show my students multiple strategies when addressing this skill/standard, so when I came across your creation, I had to get it for my students. My students that were struggling so hard with this concept, rocked it with this resource. Thank you!

CCSSK.OA.A.2
Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.
CCSSK.OA.A.5
Fluently add and subtract within 5.
CCSS1.OA.C.6
Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
