Your students will love practicing addition with these math secret code scavenger hunts! All of the problems in this resource involve 2-digit addition, most with regrouping. They are appropriate for 2nd grade (or 3rd grade review at the beginning of the year).
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
There are 2 separate scavenger hunts in this resource:
- Set A - Kid theme cards
- Set B - Dog theme cards
Each set includes:
- 14-15 addition problem cards
- Secret code recording sheet
- Answer key
Digital Version
The secret code recording sheets have been prepared for digital use in Easel. Answer boxes are already in place for students to type their answers. Using the digital option will let you save paper and ink by not having to print a worksheet for each child.
HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE
To play, scatter the cards around the room for students to find. When they find a card, they solve the addition problem and fill in the letter on their code sheet. If all problems are solved correctly, a secret message will be revealed!
These activities can also be used in your math centers instead of as a scavenger hunt. Instructions included in the file.
Preparing for a sub? Instead of busy work, include one of these scavenger hunts in your sub file! It's super easy to set up and the substitute will be free to move around the room to assist students.

Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
