• No prep: 5 maze puzzles to print and copy as fun alternatives to worksheets. Students use the answers to make a path through the maze, starting at the shaded box (top left). Students color in the pathway as they go, or use a highlighter or pencil to mark the pathway. The correct pathway passes through most boxes, but not all.

• Use again: You could laminate these mazes to use them again and again. Students could use a dry-wipe marker to mark on the correct pathway.

• Highly flexible: These mazes can be used as bell-ringers or morning work, warm up activities, review tasks, early finisher challenges, homework, or simply as a more engaging alternative to another standard page of calculations.

• Self-checking: Mazes promote self-correction. There are a limited number of pathways leading away from each box, so students will notice some of their mistakes immediately, and therefore self-check. Additionally, reaching a dead-end will prompt them to retrace their steps to see where they have strayed from the correct path.

• Answer keys: You could print an answer key (located at the end of the file) and move around the class to find students who have gone wrong and nudge them back on course. Or you could display the answer key on the whiteboard at the end for self-checking. Or keep a laminated copy of all answer keys for students to access when they are finished.

• Differentiation: To suit different ages and abilities, mazes with fewer pathways are indicated with a star in the top right (there are 2 of these in this packet). All mazes work well for individuals, pairs, or small groups; you might want to use mixed ability pairs or groups. You can also differentiate by using mazes from some of my other math maze packets with different students.

• Digital: Assign to your students whichever pages of these resources you want on an LMS, using Easel. Add your own instructions if you wish and take out any pages you don't want your students to see, such as answer keys. Students complete the mazes on their device, using the pen tool, and return the work to you. No need to print using this method.
