In the early elementary years, students often write short, choppy sentences. Use this writer's workshop packet to improve your students' writing as they learn how to add details to strengthen sentences.
This packet includes:
-Lesson Plan
-2 Posters on Adding Details
- Activity: Adding details to given sentences (this includes visual cards for ELL students, struggling readers)
-Sort: Students will categorize sentences based on whether or not they are detailed. This is a great way to assess students' understanding of detailed writing.
The sentences included in this packet discuss the day/night sky. Science is integrated throughout this lesson.
