Description

Can your students use their knowledge of adding integers to figure out how far each team moved the football? In order to fill in these three logic puzzle grids, students will have to use their critical thinking skills, add positive & negative numbers, and carefully analyze clues.

There are three versions of these logic puzzles, varying in difficulty. All of them will present a challenge, while the most difficult will test the skills of your high flyers! All three puzzles are available in both print and online/digital versions. In order to complete the digital versions, students will need to have their own Google Drive™.

What is included?

  • Three printable versions (varying difficulty levels) of logic puzzles which require students to practice the addition of integers.
  • Three digital Google Slides™ versions of the challenges
  • Tips for how to solve logic puzzles (digital & print)
  • Detailed answer keys
  • Links to YouTube videos where teachers or students (if you choose to share) can see each puzzle being worked out step-by-step

While adding integers is a 7th grade standard (7.NS.A.1), this skill is used in many advanced 6th grade classes and can always be reviewed in upper grades, even in high school math classes! Logic puzzles are great to use for enrichment, to challenge high-flyers, for early finishers, or just for a fun way to review and practice skills.

Thanks for the resource! It made reviewing more interesting and my 7th graders were engaged. It was challenging, but easy enough to do with a substitute.

Students loved completing this logic puzzle after their unit quiz. I used this as an early finisher so I challenged my students with the hard version of the puzzle. Students had to think critically to build their clues which they found so exciting. Thank you for this great resource!

This resource embodies many activities that can reach learners at all levels. I also appreciate how well it is laid out and can be used as an independent, seat resource.
