Description

This resource includes three half pages of guided notes, three scavenger hunts and a two page assessment for classifying, adding and subtracting polynomials. Below, you will find a brief description of the notes, scavenger hunts and assessments. You can use all of these to supplement your instruction on this topic.

The guided notes provide the definition of a monomial, non-monomial examples, the degree of a monomial, classifying polynomials by terms and degrees and adding and subtracting polynomials. Please view the preview so you can see an example of the note pages. These notes fit very nicely in a composition notebook or two per page in a regular notebook.

Students can complete three scavenger hunts on adding and subtracting polynomials, polynomial vocabulary and classifying polynomials by terms and degrees. Each scavenger hunt has twelve questions. Students will solve the first problem and their answer will lead them to the next problem to be completed. The last problem completed should lead them back to the starting position. This is an excellent self-checking activity. Students will gain confidence while deepening their understanding of polynomials.

Lastly, two short ten question assessments are included. One assessment has questions that focus on adding and subtracting polynomials. The second assessment has ten multiple choice questions on classifying polynomials by terms and degrees.

Answer keys are included.
