Description

25 unique and thought out questions on adding unlike fractions. Each question corresponds to a matching answer that gets colored in to form a symmetrical design. Not only does this make it fun and rewarding for students but it also makes it easy for students and teachers to know if the worksheet has been completed correctly. Great for classwork, homework, additional practice, extra credit, and subs. The designs can also be cut out and quilted together to make a great art piece. The pdf file contains the worksheet and a key. Please download the preview file to see exactly what you will get. For additional practice, I also have worksheet on subtracting unlike fractions and another worksheet on both adding and subtracting unlike fractions. *Fixed error. Changed incorrect answer of 9/24 to 19/24. Thank you.

Hello fellow educator! Although it's been over three years since I bought this resource, I'd like to take a moment and thank you for making it. Prior to the pandemic, I taught an ESE self-contained 5th grade class. They were a great bunch of kiddos but they were a very low performing class. I worked endlessly coming up with games, projects, graphic organizers and just a plethora of material to help close this class' learning gap. By the end of each day I was drained and still had to help my three daughters with their school work. Your resource was one of the many resources that helped me get through a very challenging year. Even though this review comes in late please know that I'm forever thankful. Have a great 2020- 2023 school year!

I downloaded this resource for my 5th graders to complete during our intervention time. They LOVED it because it's different from normal classroom worksheets. We didn't finish it in our allotted 45 minutes, so I offered a "prize" to anyone who finished it over the weekend and brought it back completed. One-third of the students returned it! That speaks to the fun, creative aspects of it.

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
