Description

When students learn a new math skill such as adding three digits, it is important that they practice the skill in order to master it. While working in a first grade classroom last semester, we found that we needed the students to have more individual practice.

There are 10 sheets total.

The first two sheets review adding three numbers up to the sum of twenty. Students can use their strategies to determine the answer. They can use tic marks if necessary, use a number line or see if they can find doubles or tens to help with adding three numbers.

The second two sheets specifically have triple digit addition questions that have the students find the numbers that add up to ten first.

The third two sheets have students find doubles such as 2+2, then add the third number.

The first six pages of questions are in vertical form, and the last four pages are in horizontal form so that students can get used to seeing the equations both ways.

These could even be used individually as pre-tests or final tests to see what they know.

What fun and great practice for adding three single digit numbers! Students were able to look at the numbers and choose a strategy to use in adding the numbers.
