The ability to recall our math facts with automaticity is the outcome in the curriculum that I believe is the most important, yet often most neglected. I have created a google slides presentation as well as a PDF document with all of the math facts from 1+1 to 9+9. In class we view the slides as a class each math class. Students are expected to say the numbers in the equation aloud as they see them, then answer the equation prior to flipping it over. This combination of visual and auditory practice will allow students to make meaningful connections within their memory. This invaluable practice will support their numeracy understanding for the rest of their school career, and help them in life. This practice takes about 5 minutes and should be reinforced at home at least three times a week.
