Description

This packet includes resources for teaching addition and subtraction strategies.

The file includes:
*Quizzes that focus on the following strategies:
-Adding and subtracting zero
-Adding and subtracting one
-Adding and subtracting doubles
-Adding and subtracting near-doubles
-Adding and subtracting ten
-Adding and subtracting nine

There are 4 quizzes for each strategy:
-Addition
-Subtraction
-Addition & subtraction mixed (easy)
-Addition & subtraction mixed (hard)

Each quiz features math problems that are vertical and horizontal (with the answer at the beginning and the answer at the end, ie: ___=3+4, 3+4=_____). Each problem should be listed 3 times in one quiz: vertically and 2 ways horizontally, changing the order of the addends.

*In addition, 6 strategy reference pages are included. These can be kept in a folder for reference when needed or posted in the room. They come in both English and Spanish.

*Fact triangles are included for each addition/subtraction strategy.

*Answer Keys are provided for every quiz.

*Class charts to keep track of student progress are also included.

This packet can be used in conjunction with Second Grade Everyday Math (Unit 2) or on your own.
