Description

Give your students practice solving addition and subtraction within 20 one step word problems during April. These interactive task cards will get your students up moving around while practicing their word problem skills at the same time! All of the addition and subtraction basic fact word problems have a spring theme, with problems centered around April – baseball, picnics, spring, rain, etc.

Product includes:

  • April word problem answer sheet
  • 12 basic fact addition/subtraction word problem task cards
  • 12 basic fact addition/subtraction word problems full page (same problems as task cards)
  • answer key for word problems

Why use these word problem task cards?

  • The task cards are perfect to put around the room and have your students walk around to solve problems. It gets them up moving around!
  • These cards would work well for Scoot.
  • The full-sized version gives you an easy way to review each problem at the end of class.

Aligned with Common Core State Standards:

  • 1.OA.1: Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
  • 2.OA.1: Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

Do you need an easy activity to leave for a substitute? Just print and leave with a substitute! Quick and easy prep for an engaging practice while you are absent.

Do your students need to get up and move around? Place the task cards all around the classroom. Students will need to walk to get to the next problem. Sure beats sitting in a chair all class!
