This activity includes 19 addition and subtraction problems with whole numbers. I display the large word problems whole group first. Students read the problem and hold up an addition sign or subtraction sign. Then we discuss whether it is addition or subtraction. I then have students sort and glue 12 word problems under addition and subtraction.

This activity also includes a problem solving document where students can solve 4 problems and a writing document where students can write to explain how they solved two problems.
