There are a total of 24 addition and subtraction scratch off word problem cards in this packet. This activity can be used as a center activity, small group instructional resource, or an activity for early finishers. To complete these activities, students must read the word problem and decide what operation to use to solve it. Then, they solve the problem on their answer sheet. Finally, students check their answer by scratching off the answer box, which has been covered with a paint mixture. Optional self-reflection guides are included for students to complete after answering all word problems. All addition and subtraction problems are within 1,000. These activities do require some prep painting the scratch off section each time it is used. Once materials are gathered and cards are laminated, it only takes about 5 – 8 minutes to paint the cards each time. The engagement of your students makes the prep time worth it!
