Learn to Add (within 20) using Bar Models/Tape Diagrams to solve addition equation.

Help to lay a solid addition foundation for your young learners/students who can truly understand addition concept.

Included in the pack are illustrations of

1. Part Whole Model and

2. Comparison Model

How these models are applied in the following :

- Add when two parts are given

- Find the unknown addend of an addition equation

- Interpret “more than” or “less than” problems

Exercises are also included for students to practice addition, identify value of each part and interpret number sentence.

- Learn to understand basic bar models; identify the values of two different parts and find the whole by adding these two parts. Interpret bar model into addition math sentences. Many variation of basic models are presented to reinforce child's understanding of the concept. Learn to add up to three numbers within 20.

- Find the unknown addend in a number sentence or equation; for example 8 + ___ = 11. Bar model is used to help child visualizes the concept of how subtraction is applied to find an unknown in an addition equation.

- Learn to add with "more than" or "less than". Interpret comparison problems into bar models then learn to draw models to find answers. It is important to learn to interpret and draw bar model as it sets the foundation for solving word problems.
